Vault door frame with lock

Posted by Scott, Milwaukee on August 20, 2008 at 13:17:55:

Vault doors usually have the boltwork, locking mechanism, wheels, etc. attached to them. The frame is just to anchor the hinges and provide holes for the bolts. There are a few doors that reverse that layout. Without going into too much inside detail, is this just a matter of taste or is there a real advantage of one over the other?

For an example, see the old Mt. Pony federal reserve facility photos.
