Dave, there was another lesser known Yale who was also in the business in the latter 1800's. Most likely a relative as he was a witness to at least one of Linus Jr's earlier patents. He next shows up with at least one of his own patents assigned to Farrel Herring and later in the 1890's with vault related patents. He obviously had a falling out with Jr. as his safes used S&G locks. One was featured in SAVTA mag several years ago. There was also an ad in a 1950's? Ledger where Yale was selling small (probably Meilink or Schwab) safes with the Yale name on the door. Doug |
