If the safe is locked open?It is rather easy,First with the door open turn the dial from the full left stop to the right very slowly,at the sametime apply a slight pressure on the bolt as to close the pins that should be stuck out,you will eventualy come to a point where the pins will retract and the dial will stop , that will be your last number in the combination.Make sure to write down the number and direction it happend ,direction being counter or clock wise.be sure and NOT turn the dial before you have done this documentation. There are four numbers in a Hall safe combo, associated with a notched brass disk inside the combination assembly per number. Take the sheetemtal panel off the back of the door , you should see three fastening screws that hold the combination assembly, looking closer you will see a slot that a nail file could fit in,whatever you use in the next step can't be tapered but square on the end,I use a needle file. Close the locking bar exposing the large locking pins. Next Rememeber what direction you were rotating the dial to get that "Last Number I told you to remember"If you didn't your not lost , just one more number to get.Now if you were turning right when you got the pins to retract? you will start this process by turning the dial left , then right then left , then right to the "LAST NUMBER"Now windup the numbers , turning them 5 x to the right ,now slowly keep turning to the right till with slight pressure you will feel the "Square File fall into the first slot, note the first number, now rotating in the opposite direction till the file drops into the next slot and number, two down, rotate in the opossite direction for the third number and then to the last number that you already know or will find by the probe dropping to the final position.note the number if you didn't have it from the original process. Ok you should be able to open and close the bolt. This process could take more than one try .You are not done , if you get this far there is anothere sequence of steps to the a usuable combination even thou you have the correct numbers,e-mail me and I will help you get it,for example you pass the first number 3x and stop at the second number then you pass the second number 2x and then you stop at the third number ,then you pass the third number once and stop at the final number.Sorry for the long almost criptic trail , I just spent half of a day doing just what you ask on an old Hall safe that I found at a Antique dealer that was locked open.

regards and I appologize for my poor grammer and spelling ahead of time .
