Bob, I guess the arithmetic is still with me. It would need to be no later than 1907 to be 100 years old, and the term used was "well over" a century. Don't know how to quantify "well over." Could be several hours could be several decades.

Related, but not specifically: I've been told by people who know more than I do about antiques and antique values that to be considered an "antique" an item needs to be at least one century old.

I know the definition of the term "antique" isn't an issue in this thread, but (opinion) if we're to be considered the "go-to" authorities for info on old safes I feel we still need to be as accurate as we can whenever we can.
