I have a large safe that I aquired from a realtor in town that reads on the bottom...Canadian Diebold Safe Company Number on opening handle is 541856 and the dial has a Yale and Towne MFG, Stampford, Conn USA stamped on it.The safe measures 27.5x30x44" tall without the cast wheels. The door is open and I have pulled the dial mechanism out so's as I don't accidentally lock it. I lubricated all the mechanisms with WD40 and then later read on your forum that this is wrong. Could I rinse these areas with brakekleen and compressed air and then lubricate with 3in 1 oil instead? Any idea what era Diebold was built in Canada? I take it I will need a safe tech to set the combination. Thanks for your input.... |
