Robert:

Sounds like you purchased a surpluss Mosler GSA container. Normally there is little maintainence on safes such as these except on the actual lock. Is there any play on the control drawer (drawer with the lock)? Normally there is a slight "play" or tolerence in the drawer. There's really nothing to lubricate except the drawer slides which don't sound like your problem.

When you dial the combination does the dial come to a stop? Several types of locks are seen on these ype of containers and not all were made by Mosler. How exactly are you dialing the lock to open it?

If the safe has to be drilled, Yes,, it can be repaired. You may need a new lock depending on the problem. Normally, very specific repair methods are stated by GSA for goverment use of the safes and since your's is now "non-goverment" use you can have it repaired by welding a hardened rod into the opening hole. Basicly you no longer have to follow GSA repair methods since it's in private hands....

If you cannot get the safe open feel free to email me and I'll refer you to someone in your area who can professionally open and repair the safe and then make sure it will last you for the years ahead.
