J.Baum LARGE safe questions/any info helpful

Posted by lis on September 12, 2008 at 09:06:25:

J.Baum safe, extremely large (approx. 5 1/2-6' tall x 4'wide x3' depth), outer metal casing appears to be made of a wood veneer with scrolled moldings (however it is not wood), hinges do have the acorn top, and the numbers 19226 on the door.
Locking mechanism: Sargent & Greenleaf, Rochester NY, can see gears through a previously attempted drill hole, tumbler moves to right & will not move to left.

Found in basement, no combination available. I understand that Jacob Baum's safes were solid iron construction insets instead of the rivoted/hinged of earlier styles.
Is there anyway to get in this safe (prefer not doing anymore damage to it than necessary)?

Any idea of what the safe is (personal, gun?), manufactured, etc. Any and all info. useful. Thank you.
