Check the above article for a little more info on the subject of safe drilling. The page features a double size picture of a safe door that had 2 1/4" holes drilled in it and repaired. The holes were repaired by replacing the metal where the holes were and the area was spot finished. The spot is entirely within the picture.

BTW You mentioned Asbestos, the Safe Cabinet units DO contain asbestos.
