I saw them on Amazon.com but no pics so I couldn't tell you if there's a difference between the two. The 1954 reprint I have has so much useful information on old safe and vault makers it should make you happy...

And since you're right in NYC you should actually make a trip over to the General Society of Mechanics and Trademen and see the Mossman collection. I took a train down from Albany a couple of years ago and met a friend from Pittsburg at Penn station and we walked over and had a great time there. You may have to make an appointment but the curator's name is John Erroll. John wrote a book about the collection about two years ago, it's called American Genius. If you enjoy learning about safes and vaults as well as their locks then pick a copy of that book up too. It's Well worth the price.
