Thanks Dave, another puzzle piece roughly fitting in. And that shows the Rem-Sherm company was in existence pre-HHM merger. I know that the HHM merger included the Farrel Co. also. It just didn't get named in the new company name. Are the doors shown in "Lure" Rem-Sherm? The Cleveland Fed York door circa 1922 has the jamb mounted locks as you described but I don't remember anything mentioned about Holmes being connected with that door design, not that he couldn't have been. A very distinctive early crane hinge design used by York has a big hump in it. At least one of the "Lure" doors has this design and looks like it was contemporary with the publication but as yet have been unable to ID them. I have read the Floyd patent on chrystalized iron. Franklinite is a manganese rich iron ore found around Franklin, N.J. It is similiar to Spiegeleisen which is another manganese rich iron ore found much earlier in Bavaria. Cast hard plates were made from both of these ores but fell out of favor when Manganese Steel was formulated in the 1890's. Taylor Iron & Steel Co.(TISCO) originally had the sole US rights on Manganese Steel. Doug
