York Safe and Lock Co. safe, age unknown

I have a safe which was given to me at the end of a chain of people, none of whom knew the combination. The visible outer casing appears to be sheet metal. (At the very least, there appears to be a sheet-metal back cover, which I have not attempted to remove.) It is too heavy to be of sheet metal construction throughout, but not heavy enough to be really heavy-gauge cold-rolled plate. The safe is approximately 27" tall by 21" wide by 20" deep, not counting protruding parts (the hinges, the dial, the lever, and the casters on the bottom). The dial is unexceptional in appearance, and is marked with typical 0-100 numbering. Neither dial nor lever bear visible identifying marks. The safe is painted or enamelled a sort of pinkish beige all over except for the dial and lever (and of course the rust patches). It bears three visible markings:

- A thin, rectangular metal label affixed to the top left corner of the door bears the name "York" in silver on black
- A metal plate affixed to the right side of the case, just below the upper hinge, bears what appears to be a serial number, "15246"
- A second silver-and-black label, just above the presumed serial number, bearing the marking R-2741

On the strength of the "York" label, I'm assuming this to be a York Safe & Lock Co. safe of one model or another. Is it likely this is a valid assumption, given the description? The second silver-and-black label appears to be of much more recent origin than the safe itself; I'm guessing it may be an asset tag.

I'd like to (a) get this safe open and find out what, if anything, is inside, and (b) find out what, if anything, it may be worth (though unless it's of significant value in itself, I'd sooner refurbish it and use it myself than sell it).
