I have several NOS Ives #820 push latch. It Requires no key. I have played with one straight out of a package and cannot figure out what it is for or how it works. The latch is spring activated to catch the strike The plunger and the latch are pushed down at the same time when a lid or door closes on it and both the strike and plunger are pushed down to lock. This is an unmounted lock so I can play with it. The plunger will move down another 1/8" inch but only if I manually pull the latch to an unlocked position. The plunger will then lock back the strike in the unlocked position. No reasonable amount of pressure on this plunger will push the final 1/8" and lock the latch back as I suspect would be the proper way for this plunger lock should work. Can any one inlighten me on this produc? |
